Today, February 1st 2019, was a very exciting day for Troop 1176. Today was the Scouts BSA program's launch date! Three of Troop 1176’s scouts arrived at the BSA Ventura County Council office at their opening time in full uniform eager to become an official troop.
The Ventura County Council graciously welcomed our troop with enthusiasm in a welcoming ceremony. The media was present while Development Director Andrea McClellan Live Streamed video of her introducing the troop and Scoutmaster Oerlemans ceremoniously turning in the troop’s paperwork. Troop 1176 then hoisted the council’s flag and led a flag ceremony.
The Ventura County Council served cake and we spent some time at the Scout Store picking up our Troop's Scout Handbooks for girls and shaking hands with the who's-who's. We are the first Troop in Ventura County to have submitted all of our registration applications and chartership and the first (and so far only) Scouts BSA Troop in Ventura, CA. It was a grand day and one for the history books!
